PLEASE READ THESE TERMS OF USE CAREFULLY BEFORE USING THIS SITE.

By using lifemeetswork.com (the “Site”), you are deemed to have agreed to these terms and conditions of use.  We reserve the right to modify them at any time.  You should check these terms and conditions periodically for changes.  By using this Site after we post any changes to these terms and conditions, you agree to accept those changes, whether or not you have reviewed them.  If at any time you choose not to accept these terms and conditions of use, please do not use this Site.  These terms and conditions apply to your use of the Site and do not apply to your use of unaffiliated sites to which the Site may link.

Restrictions on Use of Materials
The contents of this Site are protected by copyright and trademark laws, and are the property of their owners. Unless we say otherwise, you may access the materials located within this Site only for your individual professional use.  This means you may download one copy of posted materials on a single computer for professional, educational use only, so long as you neither change nor delete any author attribution, trademark, legend or copyright notice. When you download copyrighted material, you do not obtain any ownership rights in that material.

Within this Site is a section titled Tools and Templates.  Sample documents wherein are meant to be modified ONLY by paid members and ONLY for the express purpose of establishing or improving a flexible work program within ONE commercial organization.  See also our Policy Guidelines.

You may not otherwise modify, copy, publish, display, transmit, adapt or in any way exploit the content of the Site.  Only if you obtain prior written consent from us—and from all other entities with an interest in the relevant intellectual property—may you publish, display or commercially exploit any material from the Site.  You must abide by all additional copyright notices or other restrictions contained on the Site

You may not use any engine, software, tool, agent or other device or mechanism (including without limitation browsers, spiders, robots, data mining techniques or other automated devices or programs) to catalog, download or otherwise reproduce, store or distribute content available on the Site.  Further, you may not delete or revise any material on the Site posted by any other party or entity.  You may not take any action to interfere with, or disrupt, the Site, circumvent security measures or attempt to exceed the limited authorization and access granted to you under these terms and conditions.  You may not decipher, decompile, disassemble or reverse engineer any of the software comprising or in any way making up a part of the Site.

User Licenses
Life Meets Work may assign you a password and account code to enable access to certain portions of this Site.  When you use this password and account code, you will be deemed authorized to access and use the site in a manner consistent with these Terms and Conditions.  Life Meets Work has no obligation to investigate the authorization or source of such access to the Site.  You will be solely responsible for all access to and use of this site by anyone using the password and identification assigned to you whether or not such access to and use of this site is actually authorized by you, including without limitation, all communications and transmissions incurred through such access or use. You are solely responsible for protecting the security and confidentiality of the password and identification assigned to you. You shall immediately notify Life Meets Work of any unauthorized use of your password or identification or any other breach or threatened breach of this Site’s security.

Forums
A “forum” means any comment section, message board, chat room, user review forum or other interactive service appearing on the Site and includes both public boards and private folders.  You must register in accordance with instructions that you will find on the Site in order to contribute to any forum and comply with the Acceptable Use Policy (included in these Terms and Conditions).  You may not post on any forum, or send to any other forum user or our employees, any material that is abusive, vulgar, threatening, harassing, libelous, defamatory, obscene, racist, hateful, inappropriately sexual, invades a person’s privacy, violates any intellectual or other property rights, or that would otherwise violate any law.  You may not use any forum in a commercial manner.  You may not post material that solicits funds, or that advertises or solicits goods or services.  You may not post material known to be false. You may not post messages that contain stock touts.  You may not post negative opinions about companies or other employers.  You may not post or transmit any information, software or other material that contains a virus or other harmful component.

 By posting on the Site, you grant (or warrant that the owner of such rights has expressly granted) us perpetual, nonexclusive right to use your questions, comments, and postings, in their original or edited form, on the Internet or in television programs, books, articles, commentaries, or in any other medium now known or later developed. You also warrant that you own or otherwise control all of the rights to the content you have posted and that the public posting and use of such content by us will not infringe the rights of any third party.  Additionally, you warrant that any “moral rights” in posted materials have been waived.

You are not entitled to any compensation for any materials you may post on the Site.
If you send to us creative suggestions, ideas, drawings, concepts, inventions, or other information (collectively, a “Submission”), the Submission will be the property of Life Meets Work and you hereby waive all rights to such Submission.  The Submission will not be subject to any obligation of confidentiality on our part and we will not be liable for any use or disclosure of any Submission.  Life Meets Work exclusively owns all now known or later discovered rights to the Submission and is entitled to unrestricted use of the Submission for any purpose whatsoever, commercial or otherwise, without compensation to you or any other person.

Registration
If you access the Site anonymously, you may do so as a visitor and will not be required to provide personally identifiable information.  However, in order to access certain services on the Site, you will be required to provide specific information.  All information about you must be truthful, and you may not use any aliases or other means to mask your true identity.  Screen names or IDs may not be offensive, deceptive or violate any other party’s rights. Any access codes or passwords provided should be safeguarded at all times.  You are responsible for the security of your access codes and passwords and will be solely liable for any use or unauthorized use under such access codes or passwords.  All information that you submit during the registration process, or otherwise during your use of the Site, will only be used in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

We may, at our discretion, suspend or terminate the registration of any user who violates any of these terms and conditions of use, any of the Member Manual or for any other behavior that we in our discretion believe is inappropriate.

You understand and acknowledge that you have no rights to have the information you provide to the Site during the registration process or otherwise retained on the Site.  If you cancel your account, all your account information, including, but not limited to, applications, resumes, cover letters, and saved jobs will be marked as deleted in our databases and will be removed from any public area of the Site.  Information may continue to be available for some period of time because of delays in propagating such deletion through our web servers.  In addition, third parties may retain cached copies of your Information.

Acceptable Use Policy

This is a career site, so let’s keep it professional. Please review this Acceptable Use Policy before you register and use the Site. Basically speaking, we expect courtesy and respect.

Honesty & Respect
You may not post on any forum, or send to any other forum user or our employees, any material that is abusive, vulgar, threatening, harassing, libelous, defamatory, obscene, racist, hateful, inappropriately sexual, invades a person’s privacy, violates any intellectual or other property rights, or that would otherwise violate any law.

You may not:
•  post negative opinions about companies or other employers.
•  post or transmit any information, software or other material that contains a virus or other harmful component.
•  post material known to be false.

No Backdoor Promotion
The Life Meets Work forums are for sharing ideas, not generating profits.

You may not:
•  use any forum in a commercial manner.
•  post material that solicits funds, or that advertises or solicits goods or services.
•  post messages that contain stock touts.
•  use the forums to advertise or recruit for an available job position or to solicit an individual for an available job position.

Copyright & Compensation
You warrant that you own or otherwise control all of the rights to the content you have posted and that the public posting and use of such content by us will not infringe the rights of any third party.

You are not entitled to any compensation for any materials you post on the site.

Subject to Review
We are not responsible for screening material posted by our users. We retain, however, the right to reject, modify or remove messages that we consider unacceptable or that violate our policies. Users remain solely responsible for the content of their messages.

Life Meets Work’s Liability
We are not responsible for material appearing on the Site, except for material signed by one of our identified representatives.  We are not responsible for screening material posted by users for libel, obscenity, invasion of privacy, copyright or trademark infringement, accuracy, or for any other reason, including but not limited to those prohibited contributions described above.  We retain, however, the right to reject, modify or remove messages or other material that we, in our sole discretion, consider infringing, offensive, abusive, defamatory, obscene, stale, or otherwise unacceptable or that violate our policies, these Terms and Conditions or any other agreements between the user and us.  We also reserve the right to edit materials for any other reason.  Whether or not we modify or remove such material, users remain solely responsible for the content of their messages, postings, resumes or other material. 

We do not assume any obligation to remove any messages, postings, resumes or other material and disclaim any liability for failing to take such action.

Please remember that there are risks in dealing with others that you come into contact with during your use of the Site, including but not limited to the risk of physical harm, of dealing with strangers, foreign nationals, underage persons or people acting under false pretenses.  You assume all risks associated with dealing with other users with whom you come in contact through the Site.  By its very nature, other people’s information may be offensive, harmful or inaccurate, and in some cases will be mislabeled or deceptively labeled.  We expect that you will use caution and common sense when using the Site.
 
Because user authentication on the Internet is difficult, we cannot and do not confirm that each user of the Site is who they claim to be.  We do not and cannot be involved in user-to-user dealings or control the behavior of participants on the Site.  In the event that you have a dispute with one or more users, you release Life Meets Work (and our agents and employees) from claims, demands and damages (actual and consequential and direct and indirect) of every kind and nature, known and unknown, suspected and unsuspected, disclosed and undisclosed, arising out of or in any way connected with such disputes.

LIFE MEETS WORK’S MAXIMUM LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGES, DIRECT OR INDIRECT, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SITE OR YOUR USE OF MATERIALS ON THE SITE, REGARDLESS OF THE CAUSE OF ACTION (WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT, BREACH OF WARRANTY OR OTHERWISE), WILL NOT EXCEED $200.

Parental Permission
The Site is not directed to children under the age of 13 and we will not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13.  WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT PARENTS PARTICIPATE IN THEIR CHILDREN’S EXPLORATION OF THE INTERNET AND ANY ONLINE SERVICES AND USE THEIR BROWSER’S PARENTAL CONTROLS TO LIMIT THE AREAS OF THE INTERNET TO WHICH THEIR CHILDREN HAVE ACCESS.

Jurisdictional Issues
We control and operate this Site from our offices in the United States of America.  We do not represent that materials on the Site are appropriate or available for use in other locations.  Persons who choose to access this Site from other locations do so on their own initiative, and are responsible for compliance with local laws, if and to the extent local laws are applicable.

Miscellaneous
These terms will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to any principles of conflicts of law.  You agree that any action at law or in equity that arises out of or relates to these terms will be subject to binding arbitration in accordance with the Illinois Arbitration Association and will be arbitrated in Chicago, Illinois.  If any of these terms and conditions are found unlawful, void, or for any reason unenforceable, then that provision will be considered severable from the remaining terms and conditions, and will not affect the validity and enforceability of the remaining provisions.  This is the entire agreement between you and us relating to the subject matter it contains.  This agreement may be modified only by our posting of changes to these terms and conditions, or by a writing signed by both parties.
